This first-grade bundle includes daily spelling practice and fun games and activities to reinforce word recognition and phonics skills. The weekly spelling lists and activities in Building Spelling Skills are supported with engaging hands-on games and activities in Spelling Games and Activities to expand your students’ spelling skills and reinforce first grade spelling words and patterns. 
 
This bundle includes two teaching resources: 
 
In Building Spelling Skills, Grade 1, students will learn five spelling words per week in lists 1–14; then eight words per week in lists 15–30 (198 total). One or two sentences for dictation are provided for each list.

Spelling lists include the following:

• short and long vowel words
• adding s and es
• words with sh, nt, nd
• sounds of ow, ar, aw, oa
• present- and past-tense words 

In Spelling Games and Activities, Grade 1, students will learn over 200 words from real-world topics. The theme-based worksheets include spelling practice and word study, hands-on centers, and games. The theme units were chosen to represent common experiences of children in first grade, along with general grade-level words. 
 
Better together! Spelling Games and Activities includes fun practice worksheets using words from each week of the Building Spelling Skills series. These worksheets can be used to enrich weekly lessons from Building Spelling Skills or for additional independent practice to supplement your spelling program. 
 
Both books provide reproducible teaching resources including spelling test forms and spelling visual aids, and answer keys.
